Leo way
We’re not your typical patent law firm. Yes, we look good, we win, and we kick butt, but we’re all about ethical responsibility too. For us, it’s not just about the money (though we believe in fair billing and creating value for our clients), but it’s also about working with people who share our values and doing things in a humane way.
At Leo, we believe something simple but powerful: every living being has a soul, no matter if they’re a human, a dog, or a bird. The body is just a temporary shell. No soul deserves to suffer, be mistreated, or face discrimination. This belief is the backbone of everything we do. It’s why we treat everyone—human or animal—with respect, compassion, and kindness.
We work with clients who share these values. Whether it’s making sure animals in research are treated humanely, creating workplaces free of racism and bullying, or showing respect and fairness to every team member.
We make it clear in our engagement letter: if you work with us, you’re signing on to treat all living beings with dignity and care. Then, we have your back.
When we find clients and colleagues who vibe with our values, it’s not just business—it’s a real partnership built on trust and shared purpose. That’s the Leo way.
We love animals:
If religion helps you understand our values, think of it this way: we stand by the message found in many faith: the responsibility to treat all beings including animals with care and respect.
Christianity:
“The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” – Proverbs 12:10
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.” – Matthew 10:29
Islam:
“There is not an animal that lives on the Earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but they form communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord, they will be gathered.” – Surah Al-An’am 6:38
The Prophet Muhammad forbade overloading animals or striking them on the face (Sunan Abu Dawood 2548).
Judaism:
“A righteous person knows the soul of their animal.” – Proverbs 12:10
Buddhism:
“All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. Putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill nor cause another to kill.” – Dhammapada 129-130
“May all beings be happy; may all beings be without disease. May all beings experience the sensation of auspiciousness and their minds be free from suffering.” – Karaniya Metta Sutta
November 17th, 2024 marked the day we said goodbye to Leo, a beloved companion whose presence lit up every corner of life. Leo was our best friend, a source of unconditional love who brought joy to all who met him.
Leo had a way of making the ordinary extraordinary. Whether it was the wag of his tail after a long day or the way he greeted every morning with enthusiasm, his spirit reminded us to cherish life’s simple pleasures. His loyalty was unwavering, and his love was a constant, warm embrace.
Though Leo has left our side, his memory will forever remain in our hearts. The pawprints he left behind are a testament to the love and joy he gave, and we are grateful for every moment we shared with him.
Rest in peace, Leo. You were deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed.
